38 Weeks-Still Cookin’

By January 14, 2013Blog

We’re packed and ready but LJ is not budging.  Our baby has really plumped up. He may weigh about 6.8 pounds and be over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which we’ll soon be able to test when he holds our hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.  Wondering what color his eyes will be? We may not be able to tell right away. If he’s born with brown eyes, they’ll likely stay brown. If he’s born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he’s 9 months old. That’s because a child’s irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he’s born, but they usually won’t get “lighter” or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)  This week we are learning about the baptism process.  We have our first meeting scheduled for Monday evening. Based on the information we have been given, the baby will not be baptised until April since there can’t be any baptisms during Lent.  I am posting this in hopes that people will be able to make plans, if they wish, to attend the baptism and meet the baby for the first time.  After checking Southwest flights today there are still several discount tickets that make the round trip fare below $600 for April however these discount tickets will go quickly. As soon as we schedule the baptism date we will let everyone know!
